Jano LOVES his rugby, so every monday and wednesday night we stand next to the rugby field supporting him and every saturday we take him to his games :)

Name Change saga - The End!!

Can you believe it! Liam is turning 3 in April, we received confirmation that his name is now changed to Liam on his birth Cert last month. So the name saga is over and done with! he is now Liam Voordewind. YEAH!Nou kan die arme bloedjie gedoop word! Shame he develop Croup... so he is being a baby the last month or so, and he thinks that gives him the right to sleep in our bed...

Jano on the other hand is turning 5 this year and CANNOT wait to go to GR R we must drive EVERY day past the 'groot skool' - Jano is super super intelligent. he is very healthy and happy LOVES to play and just about adores anything that has got to do with Dino's... he was even a T-Rex for a while, walking with short arms and roars at anything... (grin)

Mamma en Pappa is taking a mini break in April so the 2 little ones will be staying with their Grannie, shame i'm gonna miss them!!! But on the other hand.. i'm gonna have my first LATE morning sleep in years!!!!

Got this from Natalie's blog. Just modified the answers ..

1. I will NEVER breastfeed: I so wanted to breastfeed but we did not know the time frame of when we will get Jano, when Liam arrived I was so in the routine of bottle fed it did not even cross my mind.

2. My baby will sleep in his own room from day 1: Both Jano and Liam slept in our room in a camping cot. Jano moved out when he was one year 4 months and Liam moved out when he was one year 6 months.

3. I will NEVER co sleep: I don’t like it. I don’t go and lie with them, but Liam is a big lets walk away to mommy and daddy’s bed… Jano however sleep in his own bed.

4. I will not sterilize and change linen everyday: I’ve sterilized their bottles till they started using sippy cups . I am just paranoid when it comes to milk germs. We changed linen on a weekly basis, unless there is snot or spit up or any other form of bodily fluid – then we change it immediately. When they were little, I used a different, clean towel and fresh nighties each night. From a year, I stopped that. They now uses a towel every 3rd or 4th night and nighties every 2nd night unless they are wet!

5. I will not abandon my friends in pursuit of Mommyhood: Unfortunately family and friends does not come to visit that regularly anymore, I don’t ask questions..
6. I need 1 night a month away from baby, to catch up on some much needed r & r: I would LOVE to get away for a weekend!

7. My house will still be spotless: Yeah Right!! What a joke! My house looks like a Hurricane has moved through and destroyed everything in its path!

8. Routine Routine Routine: I’m big on routine !!! I get upset if they are not in bed by 7 after 7 is mommy time !!

9. No tantrums: Ha! Not matter if you agree with tantrums or not – they happen .. on a daily basis…

10. I won’t tolerate biting, spitting and hitting from my child: Yeah right… Jano is into pushing and grabbing and Liam is into hitting and biting. It is a constant nightmare to keep them apart!

Name Change Saga - cont...

So we have faxed all our 'evidence' and they have received the acknowledgement of receipt, copy of birth certificate, proof of payment and adoption order but... now we must go back to the branch were we handed this in and RE-SUBMIT all paper works!

We were there on the 21st of Jan 2008 will all documentation, (all originals) we only have stamped copies at the moment because you get the originals back in the post when you get the new birth certificate.

So I asked them WHY? We did fax you everything thru?

Their answer?

"Head office is requesting you to kindly visit your office of application to re-apply for the personal amendment.
Once the application is filled out and stamped, kindly fax it along with the proof of payment.

Please note that the case resolutions team requested that you resend the application forms as they are needed for their archives. Also be advised that, head office will only accept the copies of the application if they are stamped and signed by the office of application. We do understand how inconvenient this must all be for you, but please understand that we are conveying a message from the department that is dealing with your child’s application. We are requesting all the information and documentation that the case resolution team is asking for in order for them to complete your application. Again we do apologize for the trouble and frustrations you must be going through, but kindly fax us the required documentation in order for this case to be finalized."

I DONT UNDERSTAND... we fax all evidence thru now we must go back with the evidence to re-apply???

Maybe I’m blond but if it is done and we have all proof why do we need to re-submit?

Another pissed off day for me.. Last time we stood in line for 4 hours! So now I must go to my uptight Team leader and ask for time off.. damit!

They were out of the box silly on Sunday.. I suspect the green cool drink (AfridizzyCreamsoda) were a bit to much for them. They are so sweet at the moment! I could just hug them to bits! Except when Liam doesn’t want to sleep at night... then all sweetness disappears... LOL!

Name Change

I'm seriously pissed off today.

It is now exactly 1 year and 7 months that we are waiting for Liam's new birth certificate. How long can a name change possible take!?

I've mailed them, phone them and even went back to the Office in Arcadia to find out the answer? HEAD office did not make the changes they will make it in due time. WTF!?

Jano is now 3 years 6 months. He is very very busy. Absolutely LOVE to build puzzles. He can now built 35 pieces without any help. And he is constantly asking me for more difficult puzzles. He talks NON stop always but always wants to have the last word. He loves attention. He hates to cleanup LOL! he is now starting to color within the lines he usually colored the whole page :-) yesterday he brought me his color page - a green sheep. I asked him way is the whole sheep green... he looks at me and said. You mamparra the sheep eats green grass now he is green LOL! Mamparra is now his fav word. Sigh. I tried to explain to him it is not nice to say but ja we will see when he understands that. He is since January completely Potty Trained! YEAH! Liam is now 2 years 2 months. WE ARE STILL struggling with a sleep routine! I am 1 very tired mommy... he now sleeps in our bed because he cries until he starting to throw up. So to avoid that trauma he is now a king-size bed rester... that is the only negative i can say about Liam, he is actually a adorable fun giggling child.. He is now starting to combine words, and he is constantly bugging Jano, he grabs Jano's puzzles and then run with it, hiding stuff and loves teletubbies. Liam is about 60% Potty trained. he still have accidents and still go to be with a nappy...

It is going klopdisselboom with Johan and me.. My mom is now staying with us. That is helping us tremendously! She cooks and help with the kids... we can actually go out now! Mom is there to baby-sit.

Can't wait for December I’m going to take 3 weeks leave.

Our Adoption Journey

In 2004 we decided to adopt. We couldn't get on any lists in PTA, it didn’t even occurred to me to phone for other agencies outside Gauteng. I though that’s it. We will not be parents.

Mia’s story…
I was speaking to my friend about it and another lady overhead us, she approached me and said her husbands sisters child is pregnant but cannot keep the baby. Would we be interested in meeting her? My heart skipped a beat! We agreed to meet the BM. 2 days later the woman phoned me and said the BM wants to meet us as well she is 23weeks pregnant and it is a girl. That weekend we met the BM and that same day we met her, the BM said to us this is your child, did you decided on a name yet? We have decided on Mia…

We contacted a church agency in PTA to help us with all this. We went through the screening, meeting and doctor’s visitation, the BM went for counseling. Because we know her and brought her to the agency we were not place on the waiting list and it would be considered an open adoption. We paid for all hospital and medical expenses. Mia was born on the 8th of June 2004 - 16:55 on a Tuesday afternoon. I was present at birth and the doctor handed me Mia directly. I cried so much… I could believe she was finally here…

We went for hospital visits with the SW the next 2 days. The Friday morning she phones me and said we could meet her at the hospital. When we arrived with the carrycot and nappy bag ready and geared up to fetch our baby she stopped us and said the BM is not sure anymore. We could get Mia yet… I was DEVISTATED!

2 week later the BM phoned and ask if I’m still interested.. She will talk to the SW that same day we drive to her place and fetch Mia. She stayed with us for 4 weeks when the BM phoned and demanded her back. Sadly it happened twice more… and just before the 60 days after crushing our hopes and fueling our hopes she demanded her back again. We finally went to an advocate to try and helped us. I refused to give Mia to her. We were almost convicted of kidnapping because the BM said that we are keeping her child from her. The children’s court rule that Mia be placed in the care of the BM permanently and I ask for no contact whatsoever from the BM – she had the audacity to phone me 9 months later to asked for money for vaccination – I said to her if she ever phoned me again I will prosecute her for breaking court ruling. I’ve never heard form her directly again. But via the lady who introduced us that the BM work at Teasers and she use drugs and that Mia was taken from her and placed into foster care. She is now adopted by her foster parents and they have changed her name to Veruska… she turned 4 this year.

Jano’s story
I was still broken and did not even consider adoption again when in November 2004 I started yearning again for a baby… I started phoning again and JHB welfare gave me SASSWIPP’s number, I phoned all the SW in Gauteng and then started with other regions. I spoke to a few SW who talked to me about adopting mixed race babies, I don’t know how and when it click that we considered adopting cross racial but we where fine with the idée, March 2005 - My eye caught Procare who wasn’t even listed but they were mentioned because of involvement of other adoptions. Huge was my surprise when there was a branch in PTA and even in the same suburb as we staying. I phone Christa and she said come see me Saturday – so we started with all the screening, psychological testing and home visits. She talked to us about the limitations of white babies and would we consider adopting cross racial/cross cultural? So we put in our ‘request’ that we would be open for a mixed race baby, or colored baby or a white baby. After we where approved we started making our profile. Our Profile went to the house for the BM’s in May. I remembered I phoned Christa every month for an update! And on the 19th of December 2005 she phoned me and said our profile was picked and that the baby would be born in 3 weeks. I was elated!

The 20th of December at 7:00 she phoned me and said your son has been born 05:20 am, weight 2.75kg and 51cm... He’s got a medium skin color with dark brown hair. We scrambled to get everything ready! Luckily I arranged with our HR months before so it was just a matter of signing papers to get my adoption leave approved. We flew to CPT to go and collect him. We met Eloise at the Mcdonalds in Goodwood, she drove in front of us to the place of safety. We where waiting in the sitting room when Eloise and the BM appears. She was beautiful; she had the most warmed smile and the shyest look in her big beautiful eyes. She wanted to meet us and gave Jano directly to us. She named him Arthur and the house of safety called him King Arthur… when the House Mother appears with Jano my heart grew so large in my chest I though it is going to burst, I remembered I bit my lip so hard just to stop me from crying, the BM wanted to handed us Jano herself but she couldn’t I felt so sad and hurt for her, then I couldn’t stop myself from crying. I’M TAKING HER BABY – it felt like I’m screaming it, it went over and over in my head… she cried and kissed him on the forehead and looked me in the eye and asked me to look after him (kyk mooi na hom.. she said..) She then turned and walked out. Only then could I concentrate on this little crumpled of a button lying in my arms, he was so tiny, it was a shock to look down and see the skin contrast but I felt my heart go out to him, he is now alone and I’m going to have to protect him and then I cried again… (ja I cried a lot on that day..)

We then drove to the Airport and that night our house was filled with a family…

When Jano was 1 year 4 months we decided to apply again for a baby – Jano was a very bright, happy and very inquisitive little boy and I did not want him to grow up alone. He loves to be around people.

Liam’s Story
We handed our profile to Christa again in April 2007, Christa said to us we must prepare ourselves for a longer wait because most BM want to place their babies with Childless couples. Huge was our surprise when she phoned the 11th of May to say a BM chose our Profile and the baby is already born the 25th of April. We decided on Rohan but later changed our minds to Liam. The 23 of May we flew to CPT again to go and fetch our bundle! Eloise met us at the airport and drove us to the safe house. We met in a different safe house but also we waited in the sitting room, Sunnette and the BM met us there. Liam’s BM was so tiny she is almost a head shorter than me AND I’m SHORT! She named him Caleb.. She also wanted to meet us and told us please to tell him she is doing this out of love for him to give him a better life. This 2nd meeting was not that emotional as the one almost a year and a half ago. But still I felt sadden for her. She left very quickly and did not want to see Caleb. When the House mother brought Liam to us I could believe it he was so tiny even for a month old. My mothers instinct kicked in immediately with him. I felt so overprotective over him; Eloise drove us back to the airport and jokingly asked us if they can start looking now for a daughter for us LOL!

Both my babies are legally adopted and I would if I could choose do it exactly the same again. I love them unconditionally and wholeheartedly, they are my children and I would protect and shield them for as long as I can.

I will tell them about their tummy mummy and that they are so kindhearted to want the best for them that they choose us to be their heart mummy and daddy. I will not keep them from their heritage and if they want to go and find their birth moms when they are 18 I will help them to find M and C…

I cannot thank M and C enough for choosing our profile, they put their trust in us to bring up these beautiful 2 Godsend children, I cannot imagine our live without them.

Het redelik lanklaas iets kom post. Daar gaan regtig niks wow's aan in my lewe sodat ek dit kan uitbasuim nie. My backup het bedank so ek is toegegooi onder werk. Jano het nou al vir 3 weke een merske snolle verkoue! hy het gisteraand van die changing station afgeval gelukkig het my wasgoed mandjie langaan gestaan. hy kon lelik seer gekry het!

die kleuterskool neem vrydag foto's ek het sy hare mohawk laat skeer. hoop maar hy lyk oulik. Johan werk in die aande by Mr Delivery so dis maar stil by die huis. Boetie gaan slaap al 18.30 en Johan kom eers na 10 by die huis.

julle Jano het nou 'n woeste woordeskat hoor! dit is kop, pap, hap, tata, tietie, pappa, mamma, manta(samantha), ouma, nee, baba, woef, kar, Coke, Kak - ja kak..., dlie (ek jaag hom altyd dan tel ek 1 2 3 !! maar voor ek by drie kom dan roep hy al dlie!)

hy maak ook sulke ph geluide as hy 'n hond sien. roep hulle kamstig... as ek vir hom vra waar is jou kop? dan klap hy sy voorkop trek die hand af dat sy oog en mond sommer skeef trek. as ek vir hom vra waars jou dummy? gaan soek hom dan kom hy waragtig terug met sy dummy wat ek nie eers kon kry nie! as ek vra tel op jou tietie, dan tel hy sy bottel op as ek sê gaan lê maar op jou kussing, dan val hy so ewe op sy kussing, hy weet sjoe sjoe is warm. en hy steek self sy armpies deur die hempsmoue as ek die hemp oor sy kop trek. hy klim ook self op die banke en klim ook af. as hy sy kar stoot dan brmm brmmm hy vir 'n vale die spoeg loop eintlik! ek is baie trots op hom! en as Johan vir hom sê kom ons gaan bad, dan gil hy BAD ! en loop badkamer toe.

ek kan nie glo hy is nou 'n jaar oud nie. dit voel soos gister wat ons hom gaan haal het. Iemand het gister vir my gesê jou baba is nou 'n seuntjie...

Ek wag nou nog net vir die gevreesde woordjie.... MYNE!

Onweer, sand en see! Jano kon nie genoeg kry van die sand nie!

Van Reenens Pas 4 uur die middag dit was 'n nagmerrie kon nie vinniger as 60 ry nie.

1ste dag - gereed vir die kleuterskool, hy is nie baie happy met die reeling nie!

So hier is ek terug by die werk na 4 weke se verlof... voel of ek nooit weg was nie, daai brandgevoel is weer terug agter die blaaie...

anyways...
Het lekker gekuier by my man se sussie in Toti. (die weer het net nie saamgespeel nie) het ongelukkig net 1 dag sonskyn gehad, die ryery was 'n nagmerrie gewees! Jano het baie gehuil. toe ons terug kom het ons 10 ure gery! so erg het dit gereen. 3 groot ongelukke gekry waar ons nie eers die highway kon gebruik nie. by PMB moes ons deur die stad ry 'n hele gedeelte van die highway was afgeblok gewees. kon baie plekke nie meer as 80 ry nie en die Van Reenens pas was 'n totale NAGMERRIE!
so ons see vakansie was nie te lekker nie...

Witrivier was FABULOUS gewees! (net jammer die weer het ook nie saamgespeel nie...) maar ons het baie gery en Pelgrims, en die Krugerwildtuin besoek. my kamera se battery het die gees gegee so ek het 2 dae nie foties geneem nie. sal kom post wat ek het. Jano het by sy Ouma gebly die ryery sou net te erg gewees het vir hom. So ek het lekker gerus.

Boetie is laasweek donderdag Kleuterskool toe. ai wat 'n treurige storie. hy like dit glad nie!

Jano se eerste swembad!

ons het vir Jano 'n swembad gekoop vir sy verjaarsdag maar dit was saterdag so warm ons het die swembadjie opgeblaas, hy het dit vreeslik geniet!

ons ry seker die naweek see toe. My verlof werk nie uit soos ek beplan het nie.. ons bly gelukkig verniet by Johan se sus, so ons moet net petrol en tolhek geld betaal...

Halloe outjies!

ek is van dinsdag af of verlof! Moet ongelukkig net maandag inkom om al die los draaitjies bymekaar te maak (volgens my teamleader..) ek gaan nie tyd he om te chat maandag nie. so ek se sommer noual koebaai!

julle moet asb veilig reis! moet nie drink en bestuur nie. ek wil weer met julle almal chat on 2007!

Vanoggend speel ek en Jano 'n speletjie, ek se altyd 1, 2, 3 hier kom ek! dan harloop Jano op daai kort beentjies van hom om te try weg kom van my af! want as ek hom 'vang' dan kielie ek hom. so dis altyd een groot jol.

wel vanoggend hak sy voet die matjie en hy slaan sy kop teen die muur! een moerse eier later klou hy vir sophie soos 'n apie vas en wil niks met my te doen he nie...

o ja! hy het ons toilet papier ondek! die hele vertrek was vol toilet papier stukkies en velle.. sug.

ons pc by die huis het mos gekonk... Johan is besig om die pc te reload, ons het 2 maande se foto's verloor (*grrr*)... ons het gelukkig al die fotos op 'n dvd gesny Oktober maand.*yeah!*
hy is nog steeds depro en het weer 9 uur gaan slaap. ek sit toe soos 'n ou vrou alleen in die sitkamer en tv kyk tot 11 uur... (hoe boring)

ons het gister na die mooiste duet gaan kyk in Kilnerpark. Maar dis direk teen die treinspoor, so ek dink nie eers verder aan daai plek nie. (mooiste kombuis! cherrywood kaste met graniet blad... en BAIE pakplek)

ek probeer om vir my Team Leader te vra of ek volgende week ook kan kry. ek het nog 8 dae verlof vir die jaar en 7 dae vir my vorige jaar. Netnou verloor ek dit! so maybe baby is ek al volgende week op verlof! YEAH!!! ek is besig om Friends te kyk (vir 'n 3de keer) trek nou by Season 7. so as ek op verlof is kan ek volgende week heelweek DVD kyk, nie dat Jano my gaan toelaat nie!

ok moet nou gaan werk.

BROKE voor die fees seisoen

ai julle! ons kar se diens het ons geruk! Ek kon sweer toe ek die karretjie laas jaar gekoop het die diense wat R599 gewees. Gister het ons die kar ingeboek. 11 uur bel die tekkie my en se die diens gaan R1500 wees. Maar die voorste en agterste brakepad is 10% oor. dit gaan verdere R1980 wees... so die diens in total was R3480! daar gaan 90% van ons savings wat ons gespaar het vir ons verlof!

En Johan het die diens boekie iewers laat lê so dit gaan ook nog 'n verdere R300 wees, om die boekie te vervang.

Gisteraand toe konk Johan se pc. System Config file Corrupt... Daar kry hy nie 'n XP disk op 'n repair te run nie. al wat hy kon sê was, ek is nou so ontstel ek kry sommer 'n hartaanval. en toe gaan slaap hy sommer!!

ek gaan vandag saam met Suzette Mall toe om iets te koop om te eet by Woolies. EK KAN NIE EERS R100 trek uit my kaart uit nie!

ag wat 'n droewige dag...

ek probeer om my verlof so te bewerkstellig dat ek al volgende week kan gaan! maar my Team Leader is bietjie steeks... sal maar sien...
